Nice to meet you.  I'm Geraldine Jozefiak

I create practical resources and ideas to help schools become calmer places to learn, work and grow.

For many years, my work has focused on something quite simple: helping people manage pressure, think more clearly and find practical ways forward.

I've worked with students, school staff, exam officers and people in very different educational settings. Along the way, I've seen how much difference it can make when we give people the time and tools to stop, reflect and understand what's going on for them.

Today, that experience shapes the resources, workshops and ideas I create around thinking, wellbeing, learning and exam readiness.

My journey to this work

My route into this work hasn't been a conventional one.

My background is in education, and for many years I worked as an Exam Officer, including 17 years working within a Category B prison.

It was there that my interest in mindfulness and wellbeing developed into something very practical. Before Covid, I recorded a series of meditations which were made available through prison television. During lockdown, I was asked to create a Mindfulness in-cell workbook to support prisoners at a particularly difficult time.

That experience reinforced something I have seen many times since: when people are under pressure, simply telling them to calm down or cope better isn't enough. Giving them practical ways to pause, reflect and understand what is happening can make a real difference.

From mindfulness to thinking more widely

My work later developed through supporting exam officers, students and schools with mindfulness, exam stress and the pressures surrounding exams.

Over time, my thinking has continued to develop too.

I've become increasingly interested not only in how we help people feel calmer, but in how we help them think.

How do we help a young person notice what is going on rather than simply react to it?

How do we create opportunities for reflection?

How do we help students recognise what they can influence, make choices and find their own way forward?

And how do we support the adults around them to create the conditions in which that can happen?

Those questions now run through much of my work.

My work today

Today I create resources, workshops, modules and articles for schools around:

Thinking & reflection
Helping students develop greater awareness of their thoughts, responses and choices.

Student wellbeing
Practical approaches that help young people manage pressure and develop confidence and independence.

Exams & exam readiness
Helping schools think beyond exam content to the emotional and practical preparation students need.

School staff & leadership
Supporting the adults who create the environment in which students learn and develop.

Thinking Well

Thinking Well has grown from many of these ideas.

It's an evolving collection of resources designed to create space for thinking, reflection and conversation — without always rushing to give young people the answer.

The collection includes work around Noise, Stillness and Who Are You Listening To?, with further resources developing from the same central idea: helping young people notice, reflect and think for themselves.

"Our principal is very grateful that we are talking about this now as I am including not just our GCSE/AS/A Level students, but I am also including our Year 10 students now, so that we can give them plenty of time to prepare. Your talks are great, and I just wanted you to know that we all appreciate you. "

Geraldine very quickly grasped our organisational values and tailored her inputs to deliver well informed and well received sessions. Her work was of a high standard and she is highly professional in her interactions with others. She was the perfect guest speaker for the audience on conference day. "
