ARRIVE — Classroom Edition
Students may arrive carrying more than just their bags.
Students arrive at a lesson from different places around the school — perhaps carrying more than just their bags.
They may have rushed from another lesson, had a difficult conversation, been laughing with friends or simply have their attention somewhere else.
ARRIVE creates a short space between where students have just been and the learning that is about to begin.
Guided by a simple script or recording, students are given a few moments to settle, come together, focus and begin.

when students are arriving from different places, activities and experiences.
After break or lunchtime
when the class is coming back together after time elsewhere.
When a class needs a clearer transition
between what has just happened and the learning that is about to begin.
At the start of a longer learning or study session
when a few moments to settle and gather attention may help mark the beginning.
Whenever you want to create a little space before you begin
rather than moving immediately into instructions, information or the first task.

Introduce ARRIVE to your students using the Classroom Display, then begin with the Core ARRIVE Script or Recording.
As the words and the space become familiar, you may find that you shorten ARRIVE, allow a little more silence or begin to use your own words.
The wording can change. The purpose remains the same: creating a little space for students to arrive, settle and bring their attention towards the learning ahead.
Use the Try → Notice Reflection to notice what happens over time — without looking for a particular result or trying to prove that ARRIVE has worked.

The resources may be stored securely for your own use but may not be shared with other members of staff, other schools or settings.
