Working with memories - Wirobind

Life story work really can help others through life experiences and challenges. Yet why is it that some sessions work better than others, despite all your  efforts? It can be a challenge to find practical life story ideas together with suggestions on how to encourage sharing, note taking and creativity.

As the Creative Activity Trainer with the successful Pabulum Project – (training volunteers on how to work with carers and their loved ones with dementia), I’ve turned that experience into a series of practical projects and accompanying notes for those engaged in "Working with memories".

These same exercises, and the benefits created by them, drew much praise from the local Dementia Society. You too can now enjoy and share the same teaching with those you care for.

The book begins with an historical context to memory work and moves onto practical ideas on using recording materials, recording and sharing stories.

There are a number of Creative writing exercises to encourage the senses – drawing projects, poetry and the value of art and picture triggers in life story work. Finally, with 10 step by step life story book projects you’ll soon be helping to craft a unique book or album in which to record key life moments.
